Successful land track-record

Does the company with whom you are investing in land have a successful UK land track-record?

There is rather more to land investment than buying land and banking the profits. Clearly, the risks involved in investing in land can be mitigated through a careful approach to the selection of investment land and your investment land provider. If you plan to buy land (ie a plot of investment land) on a change-of-use land investment project, you are advised to do so only with a land investment provider who has a successful track record in development.

Although retail land investment is a relatively recent phenomenon (in the UK at least; change-of-use land investment projects are long established in the US), it is still possible to find land for sale from a land investment provider who has experience in changing-the-use of UK land and master-planning a development.

Buying land from firms with no UK land experience comes with significant added risk.
